Itinerary for a day trip from Fes to Volubilis and Meknes

At nine in the morning, we are picked up from your accommodations in Fes. Next, set out to discover Meknes, the historic imperial city dubbed the “Vasselin of Morocco.” Visit historical locations like the Mausoleum Moulay Ismail, the imposing gates, and the impressive ramparts.

Meknes boasted 20 doors, more than 50 palaces, and a 45-kilometer city wall at its height of splendor. the Meknes area, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Medina, and the Moroccan city of Holly. The first part of the tour takes you around the walls, which have massive gates that date back to Berdaïne Bab, Bab Khemis, in the seventeenth century.

Continue exploring the city by the stables ( Rua ), attics ( HERI ), and Stud. Stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the only mosque that non-Muslims could visit in Morocco for a long time. Exit through the famous Bab Mansour El on the vast square Hedim.

On the other side of the square, the Museum of Moroccan Art ” Dar Jamai ” offers a wide variety of handicrafts for you to see. Then we visit the ancient Roman ruins Volubilis, where you will spend some time exploring the 2000-year-old ruins and getting an idea of life during the Roman Empire.

Proceed with your tour of the city by the stables (Rua), HERI, and the Stud. Visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, which was the only mosque in Morocco that was open to non-Muslims for a considerable amount of time. Leave the big Hedim square by taking the well-known Bab Mansour El.

On the other side of the square is the Museum of Moroccan Art “Dar Jamai,” where you can view an extensive collection of handicrafts. We then proceed to the 2000-year-old Roman ruins at Volubilis, where you can spend some time exploring the ruins and learning about Roman culture.
