We had planned to travel to and explore the city of Fes today. Idriss I constructed it as the first imperial metropolis in Morocco in the twelfth century. During the Almohad era, it functioned as the capital of Morocco. Al-Qarawiyyin University, the world’s first university, Bou Inania Madrasa (theological colleges), the Jewish District (Millah), plazas, local Andaulisians and potters, museums, Souks (traditional markets), and Bab Boujloud are just a few of the fascinating landmarks and sites in Fes. Morocco’s hub for artisans is Fez as well. Spend the night in a riad or hotel in Fes.
Following breakfast at your Fes lodging, depart Fes in the direction of Merzouga. The journey for today passes through the lovely city of Ifrane, which is in Morocco’s Switzerland. Then proceed into Azrou’s Cedar Forest. It is Morocco’s greatest wooded area. Before we reach Errachidia and its Berber communities, we have to travel via the breathtaking Atlas Mountain range on our route to the Merzouga desert. At this point on, the first big palm trees in Ziz Valley will give you a sense of being in the Sahara Desert. By passing via Ziz’s oasis, we will arrive at Erfoud. The fossils are generated in Erfoud. Until you reach your destination, the trip continues. Once at Merzouga hamlet, you’ll stay the night at the riad or hotel.
Today is spent touring Erg Chebbi’s sand dunes and the nearby settlement. The tour begins at your lodging after breakfast, when you visit the nomads who continue to live in the center of the Sahara desert in Berber tents. You may see their way of life and have a cup of tea with them. After that, we proceed to see abandoned mines that the French had previously used. You will love listening to their Gnaoua music as we visit the small village of Khamilia later. Lunch will be served in a restaurant in this village.Following that, we will return to Merzouga, where we will park the car and enjoy the thrill of riding a camel across the tall sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert. Atop a tall dune, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking sunset panorama before returning to your desert tent for the night. Following a delectable meal, enjoy some Berber music performed under the stars by local nomads. If you’re like dancing, you may also dance to the sounds of the barbarian music.
We’re heading out of Merzouga toward Rissani today. It used to be a commercial hub when caravans from various locations would come to trade. Our day then continues with a visit to Tinghir, home of the incredible oases. The tallest and narrowest gorges in Morocco are located in the Todra Gorges, where we will be continuing our tour. You’ll love strolling beside the gorgeous Todra river here. We’re going to leave the Todra Gorges and travel to Ouarzazate. Because of the numerous Hollywood films that were filmed here, including “Lawrance of Arabia,” “Gladiator,” and “The Mummy,” it is known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” After that, go to the breathtaking Kasbah of Taourirt. Spend the night at a hotel or riad in Ouarzazate.
Following breakfast in your lodging. The trip departs Ouarzazate and heads toward Marrakech. Today’s itinerary includes a visit to the UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, the renowned Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. The trip continues with a visit to Telouet’s Kasbah. Then, we proceed toward Marrakech over Tizi N’Tichka, Morocco’s highest pass (2260 meters above sea level). We will spend the night in a riad or hotel when we reach in Marrakech in the evening, about six o’clock.
Today is spent seeing Marrakech, well known as the “Red City of Morocco.” After breakfast at your lodging, the journey starts. Its magnificent walls give rise to the moniker “Red City.” The Menara, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Gardens, and the Souks are all included in the trip to Marrakech. You will also have the chance to explore Jamma El-Fna square while in Marrakech.
